Congress allies begin intense lobbying for MLC seats in Telangana

Hyderabad, March 3 (PMI)The excitement surrounding the MLA quota MLC elections in Telangana has commenced. Following the announcement, candidates from the ruling Congress party are actively campaigning.

Congress allies are urging the government to provide them with an opportunity to occupy MLC positions. On Monday, a delegation of CPI leaders, including State Secretary and MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, Chada Venkat Reddy, Takkalpalli Rajeshwar Rao, Palle Narasimha, and others met the PCC chief to request the allocation of an MLC seat within the MLAs quota.

During the previous Assembly elections, an alliance was formed among the CPI, TJS, and Congress. Since then, the CPI and TJS parties, which have maintained their partnership, have been striving to secure their fair share of nominated positions and elections. The CPI sought to compete for a seat in the Parliamentary elections, but the Congress persuaded its allies that to effectively challenge the BJP, they should support Congress candidates.

Following that, CPI leaders held multiple meetings with the Chief Minister to address various positions.

With the announcement of MLC elections under the MLAs quota, Left party leaders engaged in discussions regarding both the MLC opportunities and the nominated positions. Reports indicate that TJS, an ally of Congress, is also developing internal proposals for the MLC position.

TJS leader Kodandaram has already been assigned the MLC position. However, TJS leaders are expected to pursue another MLC and additional nominated roles as part of their agreement.

Meanwhile, AIMIM and Congress have found common ground on several issues in recent times. In this light, there are discussions within Gandhi Bhavan about the possibility of allocating a seat to AIMIM. It will be interesting to see how the Congress party responds to these developments regarding accommodations. (PMI)
