Hyderabad, Oct. 7 (Shoukat-PMI):Telangana BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress government for neglecting the communities associated with “Maharshi Valmiki’s legacy”, despite their inclusion in the Backward Classes category.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of “Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti” at the state BJP headquarters here today, Rao paid floral tributes to the saint-poet and lauded his teachings that guide humanity on the path of ‘truth, righteousness, justice and morality’. The event was organized by the State BJP SC Morcha.
On this occasion, the BJP leader alleged that the state government has completely ignored the welfare of ‘Valmiki-Boyar communities’. He cited a recent incident where two brothers from Gadwal belonging to the Boyar Valmiki community approached him, complaining that the local MRO office was not issuing them caste certificates – which he termed as ‘unjust’.
He demanded that the government immediately address the problems faced by the Valmiki-Boyar communities and ensure their rightful entitlements.
The BJP chief also criticized the Congress government’s claims of working for the welfare of BCs, SCs and STs, stating that the ‘ground reality is entirely different’. Welfare hostels and Gurukul educational institutions across the state were functioning under severe difficulties, he pointed out.
“At present, about 6.7 lakh students are studying in Gurukul institutions, many of which lack proper food and safe buildings. Most of the SC, ST and BC hostels and Gurukuls are functioning from rented premises, with the landlords locking buildings due to unpaid rent arrears from the government”, he noted and demanded that the Congress government release adequate funds to improve facilities and provide essential infrastructure in Gurukul and hostel institutions across Telangana.
