New Delhi, CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy today opined that the concessions in GST are too little and too late and dubbed them as a gimmick with an eye on Gujarat elections.
In a pressnote here today, the CPI leader said relief to eight out of 27 s exist only in Gujarat. Reduction of Rs 2 tax on petrol and diesel is also an election tactic and concession to exporters is a help to rich donors of the ruling party, he added.
The CPI leader said the Union Finance Minister should accept his “mistake” in bringing GST in a hurry, without proper preparations and unreasonable tax slabs. He said the moves of demonetization and GST hurt the Indian economy hard. He demanded that the Centre scrap all taxes on petrol and diesel and bring it under GST within a reasonable slab. He also demanded that the Centre review the GST slabs thoroughly by having discussions with all political parties, people’s representatives and small businessmen.
