Hyderabad, Nov.25 (Zahid Hussain-PMI)): The State is reeling under the cold, irrespective of villages and towns. Cold fires at night are being witnessed in many places and there are scenes of fog during morning across the State. For the past two to three days, the weather has changed as if a blanket of snow has spread over the State. Not only at night, but also in the afternoon, the cold winds are blowing. Minimum temperatures being recorded are below 15 degree Celsius across the State.
The cold wave conditions are mainly felt in north and central Telangana districts. Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district recorded the lowest temperatures in the State. Sirpur (U) recorded a temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday night. Kerameri, Wankidi, Dhanora, Tiryani and Asifabad mandals in the district experienced cold wave conditions. In Adilabad district, Bajar Hatnoor, Bhimpur, Boath, Bela, Adilabad rural, Neradigonda and Mavala mandals are reeling under the impact of the cold waves.
Sangareddy district in central Telangana is also gripped by the cold waves. Kohir of the district recorded a low of 9.9 degrees Celsius. The intensity is high in Gummadidala, Kangi, Nyalkal, Andol, Pulkal, Zaheerabad and Munipalli mandals. Day time temperatures in the State also dropped below normal levels. Mahbubnagar and Ramagundam recorded a low of 2.7 degrees celsius, Hanumakonda 2.6 degrees celsius and Hyderabad 12 degrees Celsius than the normal temperatures.
On Monday, Sirpur U recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 8.3 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that temperatures may drop to a further low in the next three days. The agency’s areas in Komarambheem district are still reeling under the impact of a cold wave accompanied by gusty winds. Lingapur in Komarambheem district recorded a minimum temperature of 10.1 degrees Celsius. Kerameri recorded 10 degrees Celsius, Vankidi 11.2 degrees Celsius, Ginnidari 11.2 degrees Celsius, Kagaznagar 11.2 degrees Celsius and Asifabad 11.8 degrees Celsius.
In Adilabad district too, the cold is killing. The lowest minimum temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius was recorded at Bhimpur mandal. The lowest temperatures were recorded at 10 degrees Celsius at Bayla, 10.5 degrees celsius through Neredu, 12.9 degrees celsius in Adilabad Rural, 10.4 degrees Celsius in Jainath and 10.3 degrees Celsius in Boraj.
The Doctors are advising people to take precautions in the wake of orange and yellow alerts in the State. They said children, the elderly and those suffering from diseases should be vigilant. It is advised to avoid travelling in the morning and night hours and travel in the afternoon. The people of the Agency areas are advised to take precautions to ensure that they stay in a warm environment. The Meteorological department officials advised the administration to be on high alert in the wake of the possibility of cold and gusty winds. Every year in December the temperature drops to the lowest level. In some districts this year, the situation has arisen in November itself. Compared to last ten years, the minimum temperatures were recorded in four districts on the night of 23 of this month. Nizamabad recorded a minimum temperature of 12 degrees, Hanumakonda 12.9 degrees, Mahbubnagar 13.4 degrees and Nalgonda 13.6 degrees. (PMI)
