Hyderabad, Jan.21 (PMI): Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is to conduct a review meeting on the famous Tribal festival of Sammakka and Sarakka in Medaram in Mulugu district. The state government has released Rs 75 cr towards facilities and better arrangements for the biennial tribal festival in the erstwhile Warangal district.
The Chief Minister is to direct the officials to take a decision to ensure they follow corona protocols in the tribal festival. The state government began a fever survey in the state amid rising corona cases rise. On the other hand the officials have imposed restrictions on gatherings, meetings and public meetings till Jan end. At this juncture the tribal festival is to witness about lakhs of devotees from various states.
Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod today informed the media persons that they are making all necessary arrangements for the tribal festival. We are expecting about four lakhs of devotees to visit the festival site to offer prayers, the minister said. The government has taken up all measures to follow corona protocols as the cases are rising, she said, adding that all measures are taken at the festival site.
The minister said that the health, municipal departments with others coordinating for corona protocols, sanitation and to stop virus spread. We are educating the people coming to the festivities to follow corona protocols to avoid infections, she said. The government made arrangements for the devotees to get bathing ghats, dressing rooms, toilets, rest rooms, power, water and facilities required.
The Minister expressed hope that the festival will be conducted from February 16 to 19 in a smooth manner as planned following protocols of corona. The health, revenue and civic bodies are involved in the festivities to upkeep the premises, follow queue lines and ensure a clean environment, she added. (PMI)
