Hyderabad, May 21(PMI) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary, describing him as a visionary who transformed India through progressive reforms and youth empowerment.
Speaking after garlanding a statue of Rajiv Gandhi at the Telangana Secretariat, CM Reddy lauded the late leader’s contributions to modern India. “Rajiv Gandhi gave the right to vote at 18, empowering the youth to participate in shaping the nation’s future. His leadership laid the foundation for a liberalized economy and a technologically advanced India,” he said.
The Chief Minister also recalled the legacy of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, linking the Congress Party’s history to national progress and democratic values.
In a sharp attack on the BJP, Reddy accused Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and other BJP leaders of failing to address pressing national security concerns. He said the ruling party at the Centre had turned a blind eye to key security issues and was indulging in politics instead of prioritizing the safety of citizens.
Responding to criticism over the installation of Rajiv Gandhi’s statue, the Chief Minister defended the move, stating it represents the ideals of democracy, youth empowerment, and national unity.
“The Congress remains committed to national security, not political drama,” he said, reiterating his party’s stance as a responsible and progressive alternative to the BJP.(pressmediaofindia.com.)
