Hyderabad, June 27 (Siraj Uddin shahid PMI): Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today asserted that the Dalit Empowerment program will be implemented successfully until the Dalit community developed and under brought into the mainstream. The Chief Minister announced to spend Rs 1000 cr a special package for Dalit empowerment in Telangana. If necessary the government will give another Rs 500 cr for Dalits welfare and development he said. This scheme is in addition to the existing SC Sub Plan.
K Chandrasekhar Rao has called an all-party meeting at Pragathi Bhavan here on Dalit development and empowerment in a phased manner.
The leaders attended the all-party meeting of the Chief Minister including SC Development Minister Koppula Eeshwar, Congress leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, CPI Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, CPM Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram, MIM Balala, Pasha Khadri, Telangana State SC, and ST Commission chairman Errolla Srinivas, and BJP boycotted the meeting while its Dalit member Motkupally Narsimhulu attended.
The Chief Minister discussed with them about Dalit empowerment and sought their suggestions to implement a plan of action in a phased manner.
KCR expressed serious concern that the Dalits have been facing a lot of problems. Only the governments can push them to development with the cooperation of all other parties, he said. We have to make continuous efforts to address their issues the chief minister said.
The government is ready to spend about Rs 35000 cr to Rs 45000 cr in four years towards their development. We need to ensure that the Dalits should get jobs, employment in all sectors and get on to a growth path at all levels. It is our duty to push the Dalits on a growth path and empower them, KCR said.
He said that a mechanism to be developed to provide direct financial help to this community in a transparent manner by avoiding middlemen through the counting of the eligible families.
The Government will take support of the opposition parties to empower Dalits in a systematic manner, the chief minister said. The CPI leaders expressed content at the chief minister’s promise for Dalit Empowerment. We hope that the government will help the Dalit community develop they said. (PMI)
