Hyderabad, May 11 (PMI): Telangana Government today taken a key decision to impose lockdown from May 12 for 10 days to check virus spread and break the chain.
In the wake of cases surge despite curfew in the state the lockdown has become compulsory from 10 am to 6 am next day.
The people will be allowed to get their essential commodities from 6 am to 10 every day for 10 days. The cabinet chaired by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Pragati Bhavan has taken the lockdown to continue ten days . This decision came at a time when the high court got serious on the Government for only night curfew giving no expected results.
During the lockdown period no activities will be allowed and officials are preparing to impose the same. The people are not allowed to move during the period. The Government is to allow emergency services like petrol bunks, hospitals, medical shops and media. Despite lockdown the Government is to announce some steps that will not problems of livelihood of workers and people. All shops, business establishments and other activities will be shut during this period.
The State Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan at 2 PM.
Though earlier ruled out for its adversaries and loss of jobs, revenues and employment, the cabinet had taken the decision and joined southern states imposed lockdown. The Cabinet discussed that the surge of the Covid cases in the state and taken a decision on the imposition of lockdown.
There are reports that suggest that despite certain states imposing the lockdown there is no decrease in the cases.
Against this backdrop, different opinions are emerging on the lockdown. Some sections are arguing in favour of the Government took a decision to impose lockdown. Under these circumstances, the State cabinet discussed the pros and cons of the lockdown.
The cabinet took and also the adverse impact it may have on the ongoing procurement of the Paddy and it will take a decision. (PMI)
