Hyderabad, As expected, the Telangana Government today appointed Irrigation & CAD Special Chief Secretary Dr Shailendra Kumar Joshi as Chief Secretary of the State as the incumbent S P Singh retired today on attaining the age of superannuation. Joshi will take charge of his new post on Thursday.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has taken the decision to this effect. It may be recalled here that the Chief Minister requested the Centre to give three-month extension to SP Singh to continue as the Chief Secretary. However, as there was no response from the Centre, the Chief Minister has taken a decision to appoint SK Joshi as new Chief Secretary.
It is learnt that the Chief Minister was happy with the performance of SK Joshi as Special Chief Secretary of the Irrigation department for completing the projects on a war-footing, including Kaleshwaram and others in the State. Consequently, KCR preferred Joshi to be the new Chief Secretary. In a communiqué, SK Joshi said he was grateful to the Chief Minister for elevating him as the new Chief Secretary of the State government.
Born on December 20, 1959 in Barely, Uttar Pradesh, Joshi did his B Tech from IIT Roorkee and M.Tech from IIT Delhi and joined IAS in 1984. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Joshi earlier served in Indian Railways. Starting his career as Assistant Collector in Nellore, Joshi worked as Sub-Collector in Tenali, Vikarabad, Joint Collector and Collector in Krishna.
Joshi said his most professionally satisfying moment was seeing flowing waters in various projects, especially in the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district. Stating that his dream was to complete Kaleshwaram projet in time, Joshi said he would rededicate himself to serve the people to the best of his capabilities.
