Hyderabad, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to give Rs 1,000 monthly pension to those suffering from lymphatic filariasis (Filaria).
Speaking after holding a review meeting on Medical & Health at Pragati Bhavan here on Friday, the Chief Minister announced that some 47,000 people suffering from lymphatic filariasis will be given the pension from the coming financial year and allocation will be made in the Budget for the purpose.
The CM also decided to offer medical diagnostic tests to the people in the State at the government’s cost with village as a unit as the government believes in the dictum that prevention is better than cure. The CM also instructed the officials to prepare an action plan to utilize the services of medical employees and staff at the village level at the optimal level. The CM, who has decided to enhance salaries of the Asha workers, also announced enhancement of salaries of second ANMs. He suggested that the Telangana State should become a role model in the Public Health in the entire country.
It may be mentioned here that recently, Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, MP Kavitha represented to the CM that in the constituencies they are representing many people are suffering from filaria and were not able to even walk. They wanted the government to take steps to prevent spread of the disease and help to those suffering from filarial. In the review meeting, it was discussed about the preventive steps to be taken against filaria. In order to help the patients, the CM has decided to give Rs 1,000 per month as pension to them. He also instructed the officials to arrange for the medicines and treatment to the patients.
