Hyderabad, Oct 8 (S.M.Fatima-PMI): Tension gripped the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) campus Tuesday night after two student groups clashed over Palestine posters and flags. Police have filed cases against nine students, including Students Union president Vikas Porika.
The incident began when the EFLU Students Union and the Fraternity Movement organized a ‘Palestine Solidarity March’ despite the university denying permission. Officials had raised objections to banners reading “EFLU is with Palestine” and Palestinian flags on campus, but some students went ahead with the rally, prompting police intervention.
The situation escalated when ABVP members tried to remove the posters at the canteen, leading to scuffles between the two student groups. The conflict was eventually contained.
While the Students Union and Fraternity Movement condemned ABVP’s actions, the ABVP has demanded disciplinary action against those involved. The university administration has announced an official inquiry into the clash.(pressmediaofindia.com)
