Caretaker Arrested for Robbery of Elderly Couple in Himayath Nagar

Hyderabad, 16 Oct(Shoukat-PMI): Domalguda Police have arrested a caretaker in connection with the robbery of gold ornaments from an elderly couple’s residence in Himayath Nagar. Acting on credible information, the police recovered 6.7 tholas of gold, including bangles and a Mangalsutra, along with a mobile phone from the accused.

The accused, identified as Parvathi Shankara Matam Govardhan (27), had been employed at the residence since November 2024. On 12 October, he allegedly assaulted the couple with a pestle, leaving them injured, and stole their valuables. The couple’s family reported the incident the following day after being alerted by the household staff.

Investigation revealed that the caretaker had been involved in online betting and financial losses, which motivated him to commit the robbery. He later pledged part of the stolen gold at a local finance company and discarded the mobile phone en route.

The arrest was made under the supervision of Smt. K.Shilpa Valli, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, under the guidance of Sri B.Anand, Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, by Sri. Ch. Sudhakar Rao, Detective Inspector of Police, PS Domalaguda, Sri. P. Niranjan, SI of Police, Sri.
