Hyderabad.Dec 9 (PMI NEWS) Police on Tuesday arrested Mohammed Imran, widely known as ‘Caller Imran’, from the Kalapather area in the Old City. Imran is known for allegedly making abusive and defamatory phone calls targeting leaders of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and several right-wing groups.
Officials said Imran has been arrested multiple times in the past for similar offences, and a rowdy sheet is maintained against him at the Kalapather police station. A police team detained him on Monday and shifted him to the station for further questioning.
According to Kalapather police, three non-bailable warrants (NBWs) are pending against Imran at the Kalapather, Kulsumpura and Bahadurpura police stations. He is expected to be produced before the concerned court soon.
Imran’s family has alleged that he was manhandled at the police station, a claim that police officials have denied.
Last year, Asifnagar police filed a case against Imran for making derogatory remarks against AIMIM Nampally MLA Mohammed Majid Hussain. He had also contacted a police official following a clash between Majid Hussain, his supporters and Congress leader Feroz Khan near the Asifnagar police station. (pressmediaofindia.com)
