Hyderabad, Dec. (PMI): In a major crackdown on illegal money trafficking, the Bowenpally Police have apprehended two accused involved in a hawala racket and seized ₹4.05 crore in unaccounted cash. The arrests were made in connection with Crime No. 665/2024 registered under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused have been identified as Prakash Motibhai Prajapathi (30) and Pragnesh Keerthibai Prajapathi (28). Based on credible intelligence, police intercepted the duo within the limits of Addakal Police Station in Mahabubnagar district while they were travelling in a Hyundai Creta bearing Maharashtra registration.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in a cash–RTGS fraud of ₹50 lakh reported in August 2024, in which they allegedly cheated the complainant. They also revealed that they were illegally transporting ₹4.05 crore in hawala money from Nagpur to Bengaluru.
The entire cash amount was seized under proper panchanama and has been taken into custody for further verification regarding its source and ownership. Further investigation is underway to trace the larger network behind the hawala operation.
