BJP urges EC to disqualify TRS candidate for misuse of power

Hyderabad, Oct.5 (PMI): In a letter submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer on Saturday, the State BJP leaders accused ruling party candidate of resorting to blatant misuse of power and violation of Election Code in a road-show in Huzurnagar Assembly  bye-election. They alleged that the TRS candidate Saidi Reddy used over 1,000 vehicles without permission and spent money above the limit. They urged the CEO to disqualify the TRS candidate from contest under Section 77, Clause-1 of the Representation of People’s Act, 1951.
The Telangana BJP leaders alleged that the ruling party engaged ministers, MPs, legislators and chairmen of corporations in the election campaigning and made them in-charges for all mandals and villages in the constituency.  They alleged that the TRS leaders were terrorizing the sympathizers of the Opposition parties and influencing the local officers on election duty.
The BJP leaders said that on Saturday Minister for Municipal Administration and Industries Minister led a huge road-show along with the candidate using over 1,000 vehicles with TRS flags, including DJ Sound System with high volume pitch against the prescription of the Election Commission. They also alleged that the expenditure authorities working in Huzurnagar constituency failed to videograph the vehicles participating in the road-show in order to help the ruling party. They also said the expenditure incurred in the meeting had exceeded over Rs one crore.
The   BJP leaders Dr S Malla Reddy, Dr S Prakash Reddy, K Anthony Reddy and G Rama Rao said the TRS candidate is liable to be disqualified under Section 77, Clause-1 of the Representation of People’s Act, 1951. They also complained that the authorities were checking each and every vehicle belonging to Opposition parties while leaving the vehicles with TRS flags untouched. They also urged the Election authorities to remain impartial and ensure free and fair election.
