Hyderabad, June2 (press media of india): Accusing the union government of showing discrimination towards Telangana State in all fronts, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao alleged that the Centre’s strong centre-weak States approach is eroding the Constitutional and federal spirit in the country.
As part of the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao hoisted the national flag at Public Gardens here on Thursday and received a guard of honour from the police personnel.
Later, addressing the programme, KCR took dig at the Centre for its non-cooperation and injustice to Telangana and also demanded the decentralisation of powers to the State.
Alleging that the BJP government is conspiring to wreck the financial conditions of the States, KCR said that the Centre’s attitude has become a stumbling block for States like Telangana, which maintains financial discipline by managing loans and investment expenditure within FRBM limits.
Despite several obstacles and a deadly pandemic situation like Corona, Telangana State made rapid strides in development. With strict financial prudence and a perfect planning, Telangana could increase its revenue resources with 17.24 per cent average annual economic growth and it had become number one in the country, the Chief Minister said.
However, the Union government is conspiring to weaken the States financially. It is collecting taxes in the form of cess to evade the constitutionally due share of the States from the taxes levied by the Centre, he explained.
The Centre should immediately lift the economic sanctions imposed on the States and stop any further violation of the rights of the States,” Chandrashekhar Rao said.
In his about one-hour long speech, the Chief Minister touched upon various subjects like growth of Telangana in the past eight years, saying that the State has registered unimaginable victories, which no State in the country could not do so in 75 years.
Stating that when Telangana State was formed in 2014, the State’s GSDP was Rs 5,05,849 Crore and by the financial year, 2021-2022 it went upto Rs 11,54,860 Crore, the Chief Minister said the State government is ensuring that for the increase in revenue, every penny is spent in a useful manner and incurring capital expenditure in a planned manner.
The Telangana State has also set a record of sorts in the increase of the per capita income. In 2014-2015, the Sate’s per capita income in an average was Rs 1, 24, 104, while it was increased in 2021-2022, to Rs 2, 78, 833. This is a whopping 86 percent above the national average of Rs 1,49,848 rupees. The Telangana State’s Per Capita income is being increased day after day than the Nation’s average, KCR disclosed.
The Chief Minister said that Telangana had become a role model to the country in economic development, increase in per capita Income, supply of 24-hour free and quality power to all sectors, creation of additional irrigation and supply of drinking water, welfare of people, growth in IT and Industries and almost in all the sectors.
