Nizamabad, Oct. 30 (PMI): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud on Thursday alleged that both the BJP and the BRS were conspiring to prevent former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin from being inducted into the Telangana Cabinet.
Addressing a media conference, Mahesh Kumar Goud said Azharuddin, who captained the Indian cricket team and served as a Member of Parliament, had rendered “immense service to the nation” and continues to command respect among the people of Telangana and across the country. “It is unfortunate that BJP leaders have lodged complaints with the Election Commission to obstruct Azharuddin’s entry into the Cabinet,” he said. The TPCC chief accused both the BJP and BRS of adopting unethical tactics to block Azharuddin’s ministerial appointment.
“There is a covert understanding between the BJP and BRS. Despite the Chief Minister’s willingness to include him in the Cabinet, the BJP is scheming to create obstacles,” he alleged.
Mahesh Kumar Goud asserted that the Congress government remains committed to inducting Azharuddin into the Cabinet, and called upon the public to recognise what he described as the BJP’s double standard.Citing a precedent, he said,
“In Rajasthan, the BJP appointed its by-election candidate Surendra Pal Singh as a minister just 20 days before the Sri Karanpur bypoll in Sri Ganganagar district. If it was acceptable then, why is it wrong now to consider Azharuddin for a ministerial post?”
He further claimed that the BJP was exerting pressure on the Governor to delay Azharuddin’s swearing-in ceremony and pointed out that even Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, had admitted to the BRS–BJP nexus.
“Azharuddin’s inclusion in the Cabinet is inevitable. We are confident that he will serve as a strong voice for the welfare of minorities,” Mahesh Kumar Goud concluded. (PMI)
