Hyderabad, January 2 (PMI) The President of the Markazi Anjuman-e-Matami Gorohan, Mr. Najaf Ali Shaukat, has extended heartfelt congratulations to all believing men and women (Momeneen and Momeenath) across the world on the blessed birth anniversary of Ameer-ul-Momineen, Imam Ali (peace be upon him), who was born inside the Holy Kaaba.
While congratulating the faithful, he stated that in today’s age—where humanity is confused and morally declining—the teachings and sayings of Imam Ali (AS) serve as a guiding light and a path toward righteousness. The birth of the Wali of Allah in the House of Allah is a supreme virtue, a distinction that will never be granted to anyone else until the end of time.
He said that in reality, the birth of Imam Ali (AS) inside the Kaaba is a source of honor and pride for the Kaaba itself, as it became the cradle for the unique jewel of creation and the leader of existence. This great divine miracle occurred on the 13th of Rajab al-Murajjab, when the eyes of the world were illuminated by the birth of the Master of the Universe.
Prophecies Before the Birth
The President of the Central Anjuman referred to historical events preceding the birth of Imam Ali (AS), particularly the prophecy of the monk of Juhfa. He narrated that once Hazrat Abu Talib (AS) was resting near Hijr Ismail beside the Kaaba, when he saw in a dream that a door opened in the heavens and a divine light descended and enveloped him. Upon awakening, he visited the monk of Juhfa and narrated the dream.
The monk replied, “O Abu Talib! Glad tidings to you—very soon you will be granted a noble and blessed son.”
He further mentioned the prophecy of Monk Abu al-Muhayb, who met the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) during a journey to Syria with Hazrat Abu Talib (AS). The monk recognized the signs of prophethood and then asked whether Abu Talib had a son named Ali. When informed that no such child had yet been born, the monk declared that Ali had either already been born or would be born that very year, and that he would be the first to believe in the Prophet.
The monk further stated that Ali (AS) was known in the heavenly realms, that his guardianship (Wilayah) was as firmly established as the Prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), and that angels referred to him as brave, radiant, and victorious—more luminous in the heavens than the shining sun.
Prophecy of Monk Mithram
Najaf Ali Shaukat also highlighted the prophecy of another monk, Mithram, who lived in Syria during the era of Hazrat Abu Talib (AS). The monk had worshipped Allah for 190 years and prayed to be granted the vision of one of Allah’s saints. Allah sent Abu Talib (AS) to him.
The monk kissed Abu Talib’s head and thanked Allah for fulfilling his wish before death. He foretold the birth of a son from Abu Talib’s lineage who would be the Wali of Allah, the Imam of the pious, and the successor of the Lord of the Worlds. He asked Abu Talib to convey his salutations to that child and testified to the Oneness of Allah, the Prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), and the rightful succession of Ali (AS).
Birth Inside the Kaaba
The birth of Imam Ali (AS) inside the Kaaba is a unique and unparalleled event in human history. Even the circumstances surrounding his birth were extraordinary.
On the night of Friday, 13th Rajab, 30 Aam al-Feel, when two-thirds of the night had passed, Lady Fatima bint Asad (peace be upon her) experienced labor pains. Hazrat Abu Talib (AS) intended to call women to assist her, but a divine voice declared:
“O Abu Talib! Be patient, for impure hands cannot touch the Wali of Allah.”
(Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 35, p. 30)
The following morning, Fatima bint Asad (SA) was guided by a divine command to proceed toward the House of Allah. In the presence of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), she approached the Kaaba, where a miraculous event occurred—the wall of the Kaaba split open without any damage, allowing her to enter.
She remained inside the Kaaba for three days, during which she was sustained by heavenly sustenance and witnessed divine signs. The doors of the Kaaba were sealed by divine will, preventing anyone from entering. After three days, she emerged and announced to the people that she had given birth to her child inside the Sacred House of Allah.

Proclamation at Birth
Upon birth, Imam Ali (AS) prostrated to Allah and testified to His Oneness, the Prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), and his own divinely appointed succession. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) declared that the year of Imam Ali’s birth would be known as the “Year of Blessings.”
Allah Himself sent congratulations through Angel Jibreel (Gabriel), conveying divine greetings and affirming that Imam Ali (AS) would strengthen the mission of the Prophet as his brother, minister, son-in-law, and successor.
(Yanabi‘ al-Mawaddah; Bihar al-Anwar)
Naming of Imam Ali (AS)
According to renowned Sunni scholar Hafiz Ganj Shafi‘i and others, when Abu Talib (AS) sought divine guidance for naming the child, a heavenly voice declared that the child’s name was “Ali,” derived from “Al-A‘la” (The Most High). Abu Talib celebrated by offering sacrifices and inscribing the event on a tablet displayed in the Kaaba.
(Amali Sheikh Tusi, p. 80)
Extraordinary Knowledge at Birth
It is narrated that Imam Ali (AS), even as a newborn, recited the scriptures revealed to earlier prophets—Suhuf of Adam, Torah of Moses, Zabur of David, and Injil of Jesus—demonstrating divine knowledge granted by Allah.
(Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 35)
The President of the Central Anjuman concluded by stating that all these events are documented in various Islamic sources, particularly in the writings of Maulana Syed Hashim Ali Abidi, from which reference has been taken. (pressmediaofindia.com)
