Azharuddin hails Telangana’s sports policy, stresses financial support for athletes

Hyderabad, Dec.9 (PMI): State Sports Minister Mohammad Azharuddin on Monday said Telangana’s sports policy is yielding strong results, enabling many athletes from the state to shine at the international level.

Speaking during a panel discussion on “Olympic Gold Quest” at the “Telangana Rising Global Summit”, the minister noted that world-class talent emerging from the Gopichand Academy shows the importance of sports infrastructure.

Azharuddin said the state government is actively encouraging football and is committed to ensuring players do not face financial hurdles. “We want to extend financial assistance and provide good jobs to sportspersons,” he noted.

The session saw participation from sports icons Anil Kumble, Pullela Gopichand, PV Sindhu, Ambati Rayudu and Jwala Gutta.

ATHLETES NEED ENCOURAGEMENT AT EVERY STATE: PV SINDHU

Olympic medalist PV Sindhu highlighted that an athlete’s success depends on strong infrastructure, quality coaching and continuous support. Praising Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for his proactive approach to sports, Sindhu said the coming years will be ‘very promising’ for Telangana’s sporting ecosystem.

GOPICHAND APPLAUDS VISION 2047, CALLS HYD A SPORTING POWERHOUSE

Ace coach Pullela Gopichand described Hyderabad as one of India’s top sporting cities and lauded CM Revanth Reddy’s “Vision 2047”, calling it ‘truly amazing’. He said initiatives such as Sports City, Sports University, and Sports Hubs reflect the CM’s personal commitment to fitness and youth participation.

Gopichand also praised Revanth Reddy as “one of the fittest Chief Ministers in the country,” adding that his discipline inspires athletes. He expressed optimism about a bright future for Telangana sports. (pressmediaofindia.com)
