Hyderabad, ’16 August (PMI) On the occasion of Independence Day, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi strongly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for praising the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), calling it an “insult to the freedom struggle.”
Owaisi alleged that the RSS never took part in the independence movement; rather, it sided with the British and opposed freedom fighters. According to him, the Prime Minister’s remarks contradict the concept of “inclusive nationalism” on which India’s freedom was achieved.
“Hindutva ideology against the Constitution”
Owaisi said the RSS’s Hindutva ideology is contrary to the Indian Constitution. He stated, “If Modi ji wants to go to RSS headquarters as a swayamsevak, there is no issue. But as Prime Minister, praising an organization that spreads hate is inappropriate.”
“Where was RSS during the freedom struggle?”
He questioned the role of the RSS in historic movements, such as the Non-Cooperation Movement, Satyagraha, opposition to the Rowlatt Act, the Civil Disobedience Movement, the Quit India Movement, and the Naval Uprising in Bombay. According to him, the RSS oath is limited only to the religion and culture of one community.
Concern over China
Owaisi also raised concerns over challenges from China, claiming that India has lost access to 25 patrolling points and stressing that the real threat lies with China.
Rejects blame for the Partition
Owaisi rejected the allegation that Muslims were responsible for Partition. “This is mere propaganda. At that time, only 2–3% of Muslims even had voting rights. Those who migrated did so, but the rest stayed loyal to this country,” he said.
He demanded that NCERT include Shamsul Islam’s book “Muslims Against Partition” in its curriculum so that the younger generation learns the real facts.(pressmediaofindia.com)
