APRRECIATE THE VOLUNTEERS WORKING WITH US TO FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19: RACHAKONDA POLICE

Hyderabad April 13 (PMI): The entire Police team of Rachakonda is busy fighting the COVID-19. Inspired by the work of the Police as they see, many volunteers have come forward to work with Rachakonda Police and do their bit of service to the society at large in the time of crisis.

Rachakonda Security Council has been formed at the end of Dec 2019. While many have participated in the various activities of Security Council along with Police, at this juncture RKSC members Smt Savitri of RKSC,  Smt Latha of Infosys,  Smt Nandita of Cognizant, Maheshvari Margdarshak, Sri Pavan & othershave actively participated in digitizing the manual passes data. They have also guided the public who approached the CP office for passes in applying for the same. The tedious job was done with lot of enthusiasm by the team of RKSC Volunteers and received appreciation from Sri Mahesh Bhagwat IPS, CP Rachakonda.

Lockdown period has its psychological effects on the people as well due to reduced mobility, changed lifestyle and confinement to house. Recognizing the fact, RKSC member Smt Kavita Natrajan has volunteered to offer psycho social counselling to those who are in need of it. Smt Amina Hussain and Dr Anita Are have also joined her in offering their counselling services. The calls received by the Covid control room on the number 040 48214800 or 9490617234 are transferred to the counsellors.

Due to the lockdown, COVID Control Room and officers of Rachakonda received numerous calls on the one side for food or groceries and on the other side to sponsor food and other relief material to needy and poor.

While it is really heartening to see so many coming forward to help the needy by joining hands with Police, there was also a need to manage the data and details of people and donors. Hence the Rachakonda Police gave a call to citizens on social media to come forward and volunteer by applying online. The data submitted is verified and the volunteers are enrolled with the Police.

Various kinds of volunteers came forward ranging from cooking and distributing food to distributing food and other relief material, stitching cloth masks, giving online chat support, taking calls from home, giving medical assistance or psychological counselling, etc.

So far, nearly 128 members have enrolled as Volunteers with Rachakonda Police.

Team Rachakonda has identified few volunteers in the vicinity of CP office and invited them for an interaction. Since then , a Volunteer Cell has been formed at the CP Office which has been assigned with the work of identifying the volunteers their area of interest and mobilizing them. The Cell is manned by the citizen volunteers themselves but working under the guidance of Police.

The Volunteer cell has also been furnished with all the information of donors and food and other relief material requirements and they have been mapping the both nodes and ensuring prompt delivery of service by the donor to the needy.

Dr Avinash Reddy has volunteered with Rachakonda Police to offer his services. When approached by Rachakonda Police to conduct health checkup to the police personnel, he has not only readily accepted but also brought along with him Dr Keshav, Dr Srinivas rao, Dr Varunee as volunteers and support staff, formed them into teams and started the health checkups in no time. Started only on 10th April, they have covered nearly 333 police personnel performing duties in Kushaiguda, Ibrahimpatnam, Choutuppal divisions. Sri Mahesh Bhagwat IPS, CP Rachakonda said that the doctors are visiting the checkposts during night hours also and their commitment for the cause is really commendable.

Dr Ravi Kumar, Dr Kishore Kumar, Dr Srinath and Sri Gopi Krishna have also volunteered with Rachakonda Police and are offering online support to the Covid Control Room and Mahindra ‘alyte’ services in assessing the medical emergency and accepting the request.

Another volunteer Sri Suresh and his son Prateek who have enrolled as volunteers are serving an immunity drink made at home using ginger, lemon, turmeric and honey to all checkposts and police on roads, sanitation workers in the areas of Uppal, Nacharam, Tarnaka, Moulali, Mallapur and also to Police in neighboring Commissionerates.

Also volunteers have been identified at each PS and are being associated with the local PS and donors to coordinate in distribution of relief material.

Sri Mahesh Bhagwat IPS, CP Rachakonda appreciated the efforts of all the volunteers who have come forward to work with Rachakonda Police and are working tirelessly much like the Police. (Press Media of India)
