Hyderabad, BJP President Amit Shah managed to flee in his car and escape from being lynched by stone-pelting TDP protesters at Alipiri in Tirupathi when he was returning after having darshan of Lord Venkateshwara at Tirumala on Friday morning.
The BJP President, after the hectic campaigning in Karnataka ended last evening, reached Tirumala for darshan of the Lord of Seven Hills. Afer his overnight stay, he had darshan of Balaji and was accorded full temple honours by the TTD officials and priests. While he was on way to the airport, TDP works who had gathered at Alipiri with black flags and placards demanding Spec1al Category Status to AP, tried to stop the convoy. The slogan shouting TDP workers hurled stones on the vehicles of the BJP Chief’s convoy damaging some of them. The BJP workers got down from their vehicles and a clash ensured between the BJP workers and the TDP protestors.
The police including armed para military forces intervened and prevented the protesting TDP workers from attacking the BJP chief’s vehicle. Even as the clash between the two sides continued and the police tried to bring the situation under control, Amit Shah managed to flee from the scene in his car and reached the airport. The incident once again reflects the bitter enmity the TDP leadership has been nurturing after the SCS was denied by the centre to AP.
