Al-Falah University Founder Javed Ahmad Siddiqui Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody in Red Fort Blast Case

New Delhi -Dec’ 01 (PMI NEWS ) In a major development in the Red Fort blast investigation, Delhi’s Saket court has sent Al-Falah University founder Javed Ahmad Siddiqui to 14 days of judicial custody. Additional Sessions Judge Sheetal Chaudhary Pradhan ordered that Siddiqui be kept in custody till December 15.

Siddiqui’s ED remand ended today, after which he was produced before the court. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on November 18 on charges of terror financing and money laundering. Following the Red Fort blast, Al-Falah University in Faridabad came under the scanner of investigative agencies after it was found that three arrested doctors in the case had links to the institution.

The NIA has so far arrested seven accused in the case. On November 18, Patiala House Court remanded Jaseer Bilal Wani alias Danish, an associate of the alleged suicide bomber Dr. Umar Nabi, to NIA custody for ten days. Danish was arrested from Srinagar. According to the NIA, he made technical modifications to drones and attempted to prepare a rocket prior to the car bomb explosion.

The NIA claims that Danish, a political science graduate, was being radicalised by Umar Nabi to become a suicide bomber. The two were said to have met in a Kulgam mosque in October 2024 and were later taken to Al-Falah University in Faridabad for shelter.

During interrogation by J&K Police, Danish allegedly revealed that members of the module wanted to recruit him as an over-ground worker (OGW) for the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed, while Umar had been trying to brainwash him into becoming a suicide attacker. The NIA stated that Umar’s plan failed in April this year when Danish refused, citing financial hardship and Islam’s stance on suicide.

Earlier, on November 16, the NIA had arrested Aamir Rashid Ali, the first arrest in the Red Fort blast case. He is accused of helping arrange the vehicle used by the main accused, Umar Nabi. Notably, on November 10, an i20 car exploded near the Red Fort, killing 13 people and injuring 32. The vehicle was registered in Aamir Rashid Ali’s name. (pressmediaofindia, com)
