Hydeabad Feb 14 (PMI) The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, has expanded its footprint in the Telangana municipal elections, securing around 66–70 seats across multiple towns, underscoring its growing organisational strength and coordinated campaign strategy.
A strong showing was recorded in Bodhan and Bhainsa, where the party won 12 seats each. In Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, AIMIM secured 14 seats, placing itself in a key kingmaker position in the hung council.
The party also won six seats in Adilabad and three seats each in Karimnagar, Nirmal, and Mahabubnagar. Steady representation was maintained with two seats each in Jagtial, Zaheerabad, Nalgonda, and Narayanpet.
Single seats were secured in Sangareddy, Gadwal, Vikarabad, Kagaznagar, Kodangal, Kohir, Armoor, and Tandur.
In comparison, AIMIM had won 93 seats in the 2020 municipal elections but has reportedly lost seven seats in North Telangana in the current round. Former strongholds such as Jalpally and Bandlaguda Jagir are now part of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits.
Following the results, the party is set to observe Darussalam Day at its headquarters on February 14. Despite fluctuations in seat numbers, the latest electoral performance reinforces AIMIM’s position as a significant political force across Telangana, particularly in northern districts.
