Adilabad SP Akhil Mahajan, I.P.S. Warns of Strict Action Against Provocative Social Media Posts

Hyderabad’Dec 8 (PMI NEWS) Adilabad Superintendent of Police, Akhil Mahajan, I.P.S., has issued a strong warning that strict legal action will be taken against individuals who post or forward provocative, inflammatory, or misleading content on social media. The SP said that such posts have the potential to disturb peace and trigger law-and-order problems in the district.

Speaking about the growing misuse of digital platforms, SP Mahajan said the police are closely monitoring WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and other social networking sites. He cautioned that sharing objectionable videos, audio clips, or photographs — even if forwarded without intent — can lead to a criminal case, as the act contributes to spreading harmful content.

The SP appealed to members of all communities not to upload or circulate posts that could insult or provoke another group, emphasizing that such irresponsible behaviour often results in communal tension.

He further informed that Section 30 of the Police Act has been implemented across Adilabad district, making prior permission mandatory for organizing public meetings, rallies, gatherings, and events. The measure aims to regulate activities that could lead to unrest.

Issuing a public advisory, Mahajan urged citizens not to believe or circulate rumours, fake messages, or unverified claims. He added that reacting emotionally or responding aggressively to provocative posts online could also invite legal consequences.

Delivering a strong message to the youth, the SP warned that posting or forwarding inflammatory content can not only result in police cases but also affect future job opportunities and career prospects. He urged young people to act responsibly on social media and contribute to maintaining peace and harmony in the district.(pressmediaofindia.com)
