ACB Official Caught Banjara Hills Police Inspector While Taking Rs 3 Lakh Bribe From Pub Owner

Hyderabad, 06 Oct 2023 ( Ali Abbas, PMI): Banjara Hills Police Inspector M Narender was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while accepting a bribe of Rs.3 lakh from a pub owner on Friday.

He was detained for questioning and a probe has been launched. ACB DSP Srikanth is interrogating Narender at the police station while searches are underway at the station and Narender’s residence.

A case of Criminal Misconduct was registered against M. Narender, CI, S. Naveen Reddy, SI and Hari, Home Guard of Banjara Hills Police Station, West Zone, Hyderabad.

According to Anti-Corruption Bureau, on June 18, 2023 Circle Inspector M. Narender, demanded a bribe amount of Rs 4.5 lakh as mamool for three months and later reduced it to Rs 3,00,000/- and further demanded money through Home Guard Hari from complainant Neela Rajeshwar Laxman Rao, Managing Partner, Rock Club Sky Lounge, Banjara Hills for not harassing them and running their pub under his police station area. The Home Guard Hari also demanded Rs 10,000/- for him.

In order to collect the bribe amount from the complainant, AO-3 made several whatsapp calls to the complainant for the bribe amount on the instructions of the CI. On failing to fulfil their demand, the CI started harassing the complainant by registering a false case against him with the active assistance of SI. Again on the midnight of September 30, 2023/October 1, 2023, on the instructions of AO-1 and AO-2, Home Guard went to the complainant’s Pub and called him out and took him to the Banjara Hills Police Station PS and detained him for hours.

As the complainant was unable to arrange the demanded bribe amount and the accused officers constantly harassing him for the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and filed his complaint. After conducting preliminary verification, a case was registered against the Accused Officers and the investigation was on.

The ACB has appealed to the people to call Toll Free phone No 1064 in case of demand of bribe by any Public Servant for taking action as per Law. (PMI)
