New ‘ February 7: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders gathered at party chief Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Friday for a meeting ahead of the results of the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for tomorrow. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Kalkaji candidate Atishi and Patparganj candidate Awadh Ojha were among those who arrived for the crucial meeting at 5, Ferozeshah Road, Kejriwal’s residence.
Party MP Sanjay Singh expressed his confidence, saying, “Let the meeting begin… The agenda is that we have to win tomorrow with a thumping majority.”
Jitender Singh Shunty, AAP’s Shahdara candidate, voiced strong support for Kejriwal, stating that the party was united and confident about forming the next government. “We are completely with Arvind Kejriwal… We are confident of his victory. AAP will form the government,” Shunty told the media, also criticizing the surveys that he claimed were manipulated by the BJP to mislead the public.
Adil Ahmed Khan, the AAP candidate from Mustafabad, also pledged his loyalty to Kejriwal, calling himself “a soldier” of the Delhi Chief Minister. Khan took a swipe at the BJP, claiming that the party had used all its agencies to influence the election, adding, “BJP has used all of its agencies in these elections, this is shameful.”
On Thursday, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP had tried to lure 16 of AAP’s candidates to join the BJP by offering them lucrative deals. “If the party is getting more than 55 seats, then what is the need to call our candidates? These fake surveys are being conducted with the purpose of creating an atmosphere to break down some candidates,” Kejriwal wrote on social media, dismissing the claims.
Exit polls have presented varying predictions, with one suggesting that the BJP could win 51-60 seats out of 70, while two others predict an AAP victory. The vote count will take place on February 8. AAP has dominated the last two Delhi Assembly elections and is hopeful of another victory.
