New Delhi ;April 21 2023-(PMI) Aadhaar is a 12-digit personal identification number. It serves as residence proof and address proof for Indians. UIDAI, the agency that issues Aadhaar cards, has allotted Aadhaar numbers to 135.10 crore Indians by November 30, 2022. In this order, the Modi government has informed a new thing to all the Aadhaar card holders. It is planned to extend the scope of Aadhaar authentication, which was conducted only by ministers and ministries, from now on to private organizations. To this extent, a proposal has been brought with new rules.
At present, according to the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules 2020.. various government departments have obtained permission for Aadhaar authentication. This Aadhaar authentication is being done for the purposes of good governance, curbing misuse of government funds and enabling innovation.
To make Aadhaar people friendly, for the convenience of citizens and for better citizen services, the Center has proposed new rules to conduct Aadhaar authentication not only by government ministries and departments but also by private organizations.(PMI)
