The Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) under the leadership of Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, will work in close coordination with Food Safety officers.
Hyderabad, March 20 (PMI)In a major step to safeguard public health, Hyderabad Police has set up a special Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) to tackle the issue of unsafe and adulterated food in Hyderabad.
The newly formed unit will function under the guidance of Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar and will coordinate closely with Food Safety officials to ensure strict enforcement of food safety laws.
The initiative was officially launched by Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath. Designed as an intelligence-based enforcement team, H-FAST will focus on identifying, monitoring, and taking legal action against those involved in food adulteration.
The team consists of 28 members, including Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and supporting staff. It will carry out inspections, raids, and surveillance operations across the city in coordination with relevant departments.
To involve the public, a toll-free helpline (8712661212) has been introduced for reporting cases of food adulteration. Citizens can also submit complaints through the official social media channels of H-FAST, helping authorities respond quickly.
Police officials emphasized that food adulteration is a serious offence that threatens public health. A strict zero-tolerance policy will be implemented, and offenders will face strong legal action.
The move follows recent enforcement actions, including the exposure of an adulterated pickle manufacturing unit and raids on several outlets selling contaminated paneer and dairy products, highlighting the urgent need for stricter monitoring. (pressmediaofindia.com)
