Hyderabad, Dec.17 (PMI): Day by Day non fatal Omicron cases increasing elsewhere and Telangana state saw 8 cases today. According to Health Director Srinivas Rao the cases increased to eight.
Talking to press persons here at his Koti office here the Health Director informed that Omicron variant is not fatal or deadly. He appealed to the people to avoid fear, doubts and wear masks as virus spreads in air.
We found nine cases as Omicron positive at the airport and one person left for west Bengal. While foreigners came at Shamshabad International airport were tested positive for Omicron after genome sequencing followed by Corona positive the health teams are taking care of them.
A 40 year old woman came from London reached Hanmakonda was found Omicron positive after the tests, he said. The patient is under supervision, he said. The cases found as people came from non risk nations like Chec Republic, UK, Sudan, Kenya and Somalia, he said. The Omicron patients were shifted to Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) for treatment, the health director informed. He said that the cases though rise there is no need to panic as the Government is ready to tackle the situation.
Srinivas Rao said that the officials concerned have taken all measures and equipped the hospitals with more facilities, medicines and staff. He exhorted the people to be cautious by wearing masks and follow Corona protocols. We take care of the patients and offering complete health care services at all levels. The director said that the officials concerned are on high alert and extra vigil is made at the airport.
The director said that there is no fear on Corona third variant as it is not fatal and less effective.
Srinivas Rao allayed fears stating that the virus did not spread in the community through it spreads in the air. There is no need for panic or fear among people who should wear masks and follow corona protocols, he said.
Srinivas Rao said that two Omicron cases were found at Mehdipatnam and Toli Chowki areas in the city. The government is ready with more latest medical facilities to tackle any situation, the director said. The director said that the state so far offered 4.19 crore vaccine doses to people.
While 97 percent people have been covered with the first dose more than 56 percent people covered with second dose of vaccines. The director asked the people to wear masks and follow protocols to check the spread of any virus. (Press media of india)
