78 killed as Israeli army launches ground invasion of Gaza City

18-09-2025

GAZA STRIP: Gaza City residents say they are being subjected to “heavy, relentless” bombardment amid reports that Israel’s military has expanded its ground offensive. At least 78 people killed by Israeli air strikes across Gaza since dawn.

A United Nations inquiry has found that Israel’s nearly two-year war on Gaza is a genocide.

Leaders from across the Arab and Islamic world have met in the Qatari capital, Doha, and condemned Israel’s “cowardly” attack on Qatar as well as its “genocide” in Gaza.

Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 64,964 people and wounded 165,312 since October 2023. Thousands more are believed to be under the rubble. A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7 attacks, and about 200 were taken captive.

Trump issues another stern but unclear warning to Hamas

There are a lot of questions we should be asking about how the US president can back up his stern warning.

Trump said to reporters that Hamas should not use civilians as human shields and he renewed his call to release the captives.

This is not only something the president said as recently as Monday but warned and cautioned Hamas leaders before. That’s been followed up with little action. So it’s unclear at this moment what the US president believes he can achieve by saying that there will be “hell to pay” as he did just moments ago.

There’s no question that this argument that Hamas is using residential buildings is a means of pushing back against Israel’s ground offensive and the US president parroting what Netanyahu has said repeatedly.

Of course, there’s been no evidence this is occurring or that civilians are being used as human shields.

Israel killed 10 children from this football youth academy in Gaza

Ten children from a professional football academy in Gaza City have been killed in Israeli attacks since it began its war on the enclave.

The director of the academy described the children as some of Gaza’s brightest football stars.

Devastating scenes as Palestinians forced to flee Gaza City

For many of the people who are trying to escape from Gaza City, it might be the final journey of displacement. They believe they may not return.

The scenes are tragically consistent; vans, cars, trucks and donkey carts loaded with whatever these families had left in Gaza City.

Many people said in the initial days of the ground operation that they would not leave Gaza City but, right now, Israel is burning the ground. They’re destroying every kind of civilian infrastructure and have cut off aid deliveries to the city, all for one clear purpose, to relocate them into the southern part of Gaza.

Some people are unable to afford the cost of transportation. We see exhausted faces, mothers carrying their babies, elderly people on foot.

What is so devastating to see is the vulnerability of children who have lost their parents and found themselves on the move again. They’re struggling to find any patch of land where they can stay in the absence of their parents and are completely reliant on strangers to survive.
