Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat programme today spoke about the significance of Lighthouse in boosting tourism of the country. Prime Minister recalled his virtual address at the Maritime India Summit which was held earlier this month. In the Summit the Prime Minister had mentioned that the tall structure of the Lighthouse is a source of attraction to people. As the government plans to boost the tourism around the lighthouse, 71 lighthouses have been identified in India which will be developed as tourist spots.
In all these light houses, depending on their capacities, museums, amphi-theatres, open air theatres, cafeterias, children’s parks, eco friendly cottages and landscaping will be built. Prime Minister also spoke about the Lighthouse in Chennai . He also paid tribute to the 14 Lighthouse workers who lost their life in the 2004 Tsunami.
