500 Arrested in Iran for Allegedly Providing Information to Enemies

Tehran, March 15: Around 500 people have been arrested in Iran on charges of providing information to enemy countries, according to Iran’s police chief, Ahmad Reza Radan.

According to the police chief, nearly half of the registered cases against the suspects are of a serious nature. These include individuals accused of supplying sensitive information for targeting purposes, or recording videos of locations and sending them abroad.

Iranian media had earlier reported multiple arrests in several regions of the country. According to Tasnim News Agency, 20 individuals were arrested on the orders of a provincial prosecutor on allegations that they had shared the locations of Iran’s military and security assets with Israel.

Another news agency reported the arrest of 10 people, some of whom were accused of collecting information about sensitive sites and economic infrastructure.
