Hyderabad, Feb 9 (PMI) Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday accused the BJP-led Union government of discriminating against Telangana in project approvals and fund allocation since the state’s formation. Addressing the media at his residence, he alleged that the Centre had not approved a single major project proposed by the state.
He expressed disappointment that BJP president Nitin Nabeen failed to announce national project status for the Palamuru–Rangareddy scheme during his recent visit and criticised Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for campaigning in Adilabad without assuring cooperation for the Pranahita–Chevella project.
Revanth Reddy accused Union Ministers Bandi Sanjay Kumar and G. Kishan Reddy of compromising Telangana’s self-respect and misleading people with unfulfilled promises during floods and elections. He claimed Telangana was receiving only 42 paise for every rupee paid to the Centre in taxes, calling it a grave injustice to southern states, while northern states received significantly higher returns.
The Chief Minister alleged that the Centre denied funds for the Musi rejuvenation project, Metro Rail Phase-II, Sammakka–Saralamma Jathara, ITIR, semiconductor projects, and flood relief, forcing the state to fund projects like the Warangal airport land acquisition.
He accused the BJP of religious polarisation and alleged a secret understanding between BJP and BRS to shield BRS leaders in major scam cases. Appealing to voters ahead of municipal elections, Revanth Reddy urged them to give a decisive mandate to Congress.(pressmediaofindia.com)
