Chandigarh, Oct. 17 (PMI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested DIG Rupnagar Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar of the Punjab Police in a major bribery case. Along with him, his alleged middleman, Krisno, a resident of Punjab, was also taken into custody. Both were produced on Friday before the CBI Special Court in Chandigarh, which sent them to 14 days of judicial custody.
According to the CBI, DIG Bhullar and his middleman allegedly accepted a bribe of ₹8 lakh from a scrap dealer in Fatehgarh Sahib. Both were apprehended from Mohali. As part of the investigation, the CBI conducted extensive raids at various locations in Punjab and Chandigarh, recovering large amounts of cash, gold, luxury watches, and property documents.
From DIG Bhullar’s residence in Chandigarh, authorities seized approximately ₹7.5 crore in cash, 2.5 kg of gold, 26 luxury watches (Rolex and Rado), over 50 property documents (some under suspicious or benami names), details of multiple bank accounts, four licensed firearms, and 100 live cartridges. Additionally, from a farmhouse in Samrala, 108 bottles of expensive liquor, ₹5.7 lakh in cash, and 17 cartridges were recovered.
From Krisno’s residence, ₹21 lakh in cash and several suspicious documents were seized. The CBI stated that the inspection of the recovered cash, gold, and documents is ongoing, and further significant revelations are expected during the investigation.(pressmediaofindia.com)
