12 Congress Corporators Join BJP in Ambernath, Shaking Local Politics

Mumbai, January 9 (PMI): In a major political upheaval in Ambernath, 12 newly elected Congress corporators formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, delivering a severe blow to Congress and dramatically altering the political balance in the municipal body.

The event took place at a special program held at BJP’s Navi Mumbai regional office, attended by state ministers Ganesh Naik, Sanjeev Naik, and Dipesh Mahatre. The program was presided over by BJP state president Ravindra Chouhan.

The corporators who switched allegiance to BJP include Pradeep Nana Patil, Darshana Umesh Patil, Archana Charan Patil, Harshada Pankaj Patil, Tejaswini Milind Patil, Vipal Pradeep Patil, Manish Mahatre, Dhan Lakshmi Jay Shankari, Sanjivani Rahul Devde, Dinesh Gaikwad, Kiran Badrinath Rathore, and Kabir Naresh Gaikwad.

This defection, occurring just weeks after the municipal elections, has nearly wiped out Congress’s presence in the 59-member municipal council and raised serious questions about the party’s organizational strength and discipline at the local level. (pressmediaofindia.com)
