Hyderabad, Feb.6 (PMI): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the State government has earmarked ₹20,000 crore for the development of Hyderabad city over the next two years.
He noted that several initiatives under this funding have already been finalised, with many more currently underway. “Such a significant investment directed solely towards the development of Hyderabad is unprecedented in the annals of the state’s history,” he remarked.
The Deputy Chief Minister made these comments as the chief guest at an event held in conjunction with the CREDAI Property Exhibition Show at HITEX on Friday.
He revealed that ₹1,950.52 crore has been allocated within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) boundaries, together with ₹12,500 crore designated for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), and ₹4,365 crore for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). He emphasized that Hyderabad is not only competing with other cities in India but also with prominent global urban centers in areas such as investment, skilled workforce, and quality of living.
The Deputy Chief Minister characterised the integration of 27 adjacent urban local bodies into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation as a landmark decision. He explained that this significant move enables the provision of uniform civic services, integrated planning, and a cohesive vision for development within the Outer Ring Road area.
“Presently, Hyderabad ranks as one of the fastest-growing and most investment-attractive cities in the nation. This outcome is not coincidental; it is the culmination of decades dedicated to building institutions, maintaining democratic governance, and the People’s Government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development,” he asserted.
He remarked that today’s advancements are built upon the robust foundations established by visionary leadership in previous administrations, further reinforced by the current government’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and a focus on citizen-centric governance.
The consolidation of municipalities reflects the government’s philosophy that urban development should be equitable, balanced, and accessible to all. He stated that Hyderabad is no longer evolving as a disjointed collection of affluent neighborhoods; rather, it is being developed as a cohesive and integrative metropolitan area.
Under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure Programme (H-CITI), initiatives are being executed with an investment exceeding ₹7,032 crore, covering 45 major flyovers, underpasses, and 10 road widening projects, according to the Deputy Chief Minister. He noted that this development is being conducted in a balanced manner throughout the entire city.
In proximity to KBR Park in Hyderabad, projects worth ₹1,090 crore are being implemented to alleviate traffic congestion. At key points in the western corridor, multi-level flyovers near IIIT and Khajaguda, constructed at a cost of ₹837 crore, are bolstering the knowledge economy, while road widening projects valued at ₹70 crore are also underway in western city regions.
In the northern section of the city, alternative road networks near the Army Ordnance Centre are under development at a cost of ₹960 crore to help solve long-standing traffic issues. In eastern Hyderabad, flyover constructions at TKR College, Gayatri Nagar, and Mandamallamma Junction, valued at ₹416 crore, aim to enhance connectivity. Likewise, in the southern part of the city, road widening projects totaling ₹863 crore are being executed to accommodate the rapidly growing urban landscape, he said.
Bhatti Vikramarka assured that Hyderabad will remain Telangana’s principal driver of employment, innovation, and global investment while ensuring equitable access to the advantages of development for all segments of society.
“We are not merely constructing flyovers and roads. We are fostering trust in governance, reinstating confidence in public institutions, and reaffirming the notion that government exists to serve the populace,” he stated.
Bhatti Vikramarka reiterated the government’s readiness to address the challenges faced by the real estate sector. (PRESSMEDIAOFINDIA.COM)
